Our presence
The Chemicals business has 14 manufacturing sites – seven in India, five in Thailand, one in Germany and one in China.

These operations are handled through four companies in India – Aditya Birla Nuvo, Grasim Industries, Aditya Birla Chemicals (India) and Tanfac; two companies in Thailand – Aditya Birla Chemicals (Thailand) and Thai Peroxide Company and one company in Germany – Aditya Birla Chemicals (Europe) Gmbh. In China, the business operates through Aditya Birla Grasun Chemicals (Fangchenggang).

Awards
Aditya Birla Chemicals' continued commitment to quality has earned it a number of awards. These include the coveted 'TPM Excellence Award – First category' from Japanese Institute of Plant Maintenance (JIPM) for phosphates and sulphites divisions. The phosphates unit is the first sodium phosphate manufacturer in the world to have earned this award.

In Brazil, since its foundation 1976, ALDORO has been considered to be of excellent level and competitiveness in its metallic pigments. Over the last two decades it has been developing its external market by way of international representatives, and through this its recognition has spread throughout various other countries, resulting in a globalized performance that practically reaches all continents.

The factory and administration are located in town of Rio Claro, some 180 Km from the city of São Paulo, where the metallic pigments of STANLUX brand are produced using the latest technology. No effort is spread in constant investments in the production and laboratory areas as well as in the training and updating of the company`s employees in order to guarantee continual improvement in products and in maintaining focus on each client, with agile attendance and consistent technical support.

Blackburn Chemicals is renowned for its technical expertise and excellence. These qualities are present throughout the whole of the company. All Blackburn Chemicals’ employees are dedicated to providing customers with first class products and services – something the Company has strived to achieve, and improve on, since its formation.

The Corporation was formed in January 1991 by Lawrence B. Cohen as a manufacturer of unique proprietary metal organic adhesion promoters marketed worldwide to manufacturers of specialty rubbers, coatings, abrasives, adhesives, plastics, and similar specialty chemical end users. For its first two years the company confined its marketing activities to Taiwan, Korea, and Western Europe due to a post contractual obligation which precluded LBC from engaging in activities in the US market during this time. This marketing was achieved by entering into agreements with established distributors with whom LBC had long-standing prior relationships.

 By late 1992, Chartwell began to make a significant entry into the US marketplace with publication of several press releases introducing its products and with the concomitant establishment of a network of US sales agents. Today the company is served by sales agents throughout the US in addition to our international agents; providing us with a sales staff numbering greater than seventy individuals. Chartwell is dedicated to continued growth and expansion of our technology.

 The company began with three liquid products in January of 1991. Our product offerings now consist of forty different liquid products and six solid products (Trade name Chartsil). We constantly strive to expand and improve upon our existing technology.
Our current development efforts are now targeted at:

 1.  Lower cost products achieved by going upstream in our processes to begin with less complex        metal compounds which we then modify in a series of process steps.
 2.  Higher reactivity products achieved with increased levels of organoreactive groups.
 3.  Higher active matter concentrations now exceeding 50% for some grades.

Chartwell Manufacturing
  Essentially all manufacturing of Chartwell liquid products is done at the company's Attleboro Falls, Massachusetts headquarters in steam jacketed reactors by highly experienced Chartwell personnel. Quality Control Analysis of the liquid products is also performed in Attleboro Falls in the company's QC laboratory.

  Chartsil solid adhesion promoters are manufactured in Savannah, Georgia by a toll manufacturer who has over thirty years experience converting liquid additives to solid form.
QC of the Chartsil products is also performed at the Savannah location.

Lawrence B. Cohen Personal History
  Lawrence B. Cohen has been involved in the development and marketing of metal organic adhesion promoters since 1976 working successively for Union Carbide, Cavedon Chemical, Manchem, Inc., and Rhone Poulenc. He holds numerous patents on metal organic adhesion promoters, has published more than 20 technical articles, contributed Chapters to three books, and has delivered numerous technical presentations around the world since 1983.

2008 is a very special year in the history of IPEL. The company completes 20 years of activities and look to the future ready to face new challenges.

John Hogg Technical Solutions is a leading manufacturer of solvent soluble dyes and marker chemicals for the international petroleum industry.

Our DYEGUARD® and SUDAN® range of dyes and markers have been designed to meet national fuel marking legislation and customer requirements across every continent.  In addition to our standard range of colours we also offer a specialist colour matching service.

We are a subsidiary of the privately owned John Hogg Group based in Northern Ireland which was established in 1890.  Major areas of activity include coal and oil distribution, petroleum dye and marker manufacture, and the manufacture of linen and textiles.

The business of John Hogg Technical Solutions was established in 1981.  Our headquarters and blending plant is based in Trafford Park, Manchester, and we invested in a new dye manufacturing facility in Asia in 2005.

We achieved ISO 9000 quality approval in 1989 and have a global sales network of agents and distributors.  We are a flexible and customer focused company providing a first class service and supply most major oil companies throughout the world.
